What is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientific approach to understanding and improving behavior. ABA therapy is guided by a set of principles that help us understand the relationship between a child’s behavior and their environment.

Endorsed by the US Surgeon General, ABA has been recognized most widely as a highly effective treatment for children on the autism spectrum.

At SBS, we recognize the potential of every child we have the opportunity to serve. Our team of expert clinicians work hard to ensure your child is learning age-appropriate skills and that any challenging or unsafe behavior is reduced.

The team at SBS pride ourselves on the results of our clients. In support of this, we collect and analyze data to learn where your child is making progress. Starting with the initial assessment, we obtain information that guides the development of a personalized treatment program that is written specifically to meet the needs of your child. Program data is frequently reviewed by your Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) and changes are made to your child’s program based upon where the support is most needed. This process ensures the most effective treatment program is in place resulting in meaningful learning for your child to reach his/her goals.

Parents Role in ABA Therapy

ABA therapy with SBS recognizes the importance of parent collaboration. We involve the family from the start and listen to your concerns and goals for your child. Parents are encouraged to participate in therapy sessions and receive training so that they can implement the effective teaching strategies with their child when the therapy team is not around. This consistency across care helps your child reach his/her goals much faster. Furthermore, research studies have shown that when parents are actively engaged and involved with their child’s therapy, the child will make more progress.

ABA Services

The expert team of clinicians at SBS is devoted to improving the lives of children diagnosed with autism. Using evidence-based treatment, the SBS team will deliver the highest quality of care to help improve your child’s learning and development.

ABA is grounded in several years of research demonstrating the efficacy of ABA interventions. This research has resulted in ABA therapy being recognized as the standard of care for those with special learning needs. When implemented and supervised by a BCBA, ABA therapy is considered the single most effective way for individuals with autism to reach their goals.

Home-based and school-based services

SBS’s program offers therapy in your home or in your child’s school setting, depending upon their individual needs. Therapy across settings allows your child to become as fully integrated as possible into their home, school and community settings.
